I help people to navigate life changes in a supportive, safe, and caring way. These changes may involve grieving, moving from adolescence into adulthood, taking on new roles such as single parenting, moving from faith to faith, living without alcohol or other drugs or addictive behaviors, claiming yourself as gay or straight, moving from anger to forgiveness, or any challenging life transition in which clients seek more clarity and peace. A number of my clients are high functioning individuals, often in the corporate environment, who are “on track” already, and see the benefit in additional perspective and accelerating change; together, we work toward individual resiliency and higher levels of functioning, health and happiness.
In addition to work with individuals, I also engage organizations, often at a Board or Executive level, to help develop healthier work environments and support senior staff in challenging situations. In this work I bring a background at Corporate 100 companies in applying behavioral health expertise to a wide range of workplace issues, including individual and group performance, organizational change and downsizing. Additionally, I have a particular interest in stress management and speak widely on this topic.
My demeanor is composed, equinanimous and caring about your situation. Clients report that they feel safe with me – in that I am calm and not overly serious; like to see the humanity in our behavior; and, seek to unlock the humor that can lighten the load and give us the energy to move forward with life. I draw from both Christian and Buddhist traditions, for navigating my own life and in helping others.
I wish for you, and all, the hope that can be embraced in this loving-kindness meditation:
May you be filled with loving-kindness
May you be free from internal and external danger,
May you be well in body and mind,
And, may you know ease and happiness.
